Before putting abandonment storefront links into any Klaviyo flows, Abandonment Storefronts must be enabled for you by Black Crow AI. You can find out more about abandonment storefronts, who is eligible to use them and how to get access here: https://blackcrow.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/32002960997787-Abandonment-Storefronts-FAQs
Once Abandonment Storefronts have been enabled for you, you can link to them in any Klaviyo flow that’s triggered by one of the following trigger events:
Viewed Product
Viewed Product Black Crow
Added to Cart
Added to Cart Black Crow
Checkout Started
Checkout Started Black Crow
We recommend that you make clones of your existing abandonment flows before updating the links. This lets you more clearly see the date you started using these new links so you can compare metrics in Klaviyo and so that you can easily switch back to your previous approach if you like.
Once you’ve started using these links and you want to keep using them going forward, please remember to include them whenever you make new versions of your eligible abandonment flows in Klaviyo.
For each flow you’d like to add abandonment storefront links to, do these steps:
- If the flow name already has “Black Crow” in it somewhere, add “with Storefronts” to the end of the flow name.
- If not, add “with Black Crow AI Storefronts” to the end of the flow name.
- Add this tag to the flow: “BC Abandonment Storefront”. Note: don’t remove any of the other tags that already exist on the flow (example: the appropriate BAU and BC tags should also be there to enable Smart ID reporting).
- For each message in the flow, for each link in the message that you want to update, update them to go to. (Note that: if the email template is made with HTML instead of the drag and drop editor, you’ll need to CTRL+F to search for “href” and look at the URL after each href to see if it should be updated):
- If it’s a browse abandonment flow (i.e. the trigger event is Viewed Product or Viewed Product Black Crow): https://yourbrandname.com/apps/blackcrow/recover/?eventId={{ email|sha_256 }}&flowType=ViewedProduct
- E.g. https://equatorcoffees.com/apps/blackcrow/recover/?eventId={{ email|sha_256 }}&flowType=ViewedProduct
-
If it’s a cart abandonment flow (i.e. the trigger event is Added to Cart or Added to Cart Black Crow): https://yourbrandname.com/apps/blackcrow/recover/?eventId={{ email|sha_256 }}&flowType=AddToCart
- E.g. https://equatorcoffees.com/apps/blackcrow/recover/?eventId={{ email|sha_256 }}&flowType=AddToCart
-
If it’s a checkout abandonment flow: https://yourbrandname.com/apps/blackcrow/recover/?eventId={{ email|sha_256 }}&flowType=CheckoutStarted
- E.g. https://equatorcoffees.com/apps/blackcrow/recover/?eventId={{ email|sha_256 }}&flowType=CheckoutStarted
- If there was a “discount=” URL parameter in the URL you had there before OR if there’s a discount code clearly mentioned in the body of the message, please include that in the new URL as well by adding &discount=ENTER-DISCOUNT-CODE-HERE to the end of the URL.
- Similarly, if there was a “cashback=” URL parameter in the URL you had there before OR if there’s a cashback code clearly mentioned in the body of the message, please include that in our new URL as well by adding &cashback=ENTER-CASHBACK-CODE-HERE to the end of the URL.
- If it’s a browse abandonment flow (i.e. the trigger event is Viewed Product or Viewed Product Black Crow): https://yourbrandname.com/apps/blackcrow/recover/?eventId={{ email|sha_256 }}&flowType=ViewedProduct
What links we recommend you change and what links we recommend you don’t change
For SMS messages, typically there’s only 1 link so it should be changed regardless of what it links to.
For Email:
Change links to abandonment storefronts if they are:
- Links to /cart or /#cart
- {{ event.URL }}
- Links to the checkout. E.g. {{ event.extra.checkout_url }}
- Links to a product detail page of a product associated with the trigger event
- Links to the home page, only if you don’t also have links to any of the 4 items above
Don’t change links to abandonment storefronts if they are:
- Unsubscribe links
- Social media links
- Links to a product detail page of a hardcoded product (e.g. if you’re recommending a certain product that’s on sale to all users regardless of whether the user viewed or added it to cart) or dynamic product recommendations that don’t come from the trigger event but instead come from the platform (e.g. Klaviyo product recommendations).
- Links to specific collection pages like new arrivals, best sellers, etc.
- Links to your home page, if you have links to other page types in the Change links to abandonment storefronts if they are section.
