What is a Predictive Repurchase Event?
A Predictive Repurchase Event happens when Black Crow AI predicts it’s a good time to reach out to a previous customer so they buy again.
This Event is sent to your email/SMS platform (like Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript or Yotpo) to trigger Flows (automated messages).

Predictive Repurchase Event Types
There are 3 Predictive Repurchase Event Types:
- Black Crow - Cross Sell Prediction: Contact past customers with personalized product recommendations at the best time to encourage another purchase.
- Black Crow - Replenishment Prediction: Remind customers to restock products they’ve bought before, if the product is replenishable.
- Black Crow - Subscribe Prediction: Prompt customers to subscribe to products they’ve bought before that offer a subscription option.
Every Predictive Repurchase Event relates to a product that the customer has already ordered.
You can use any of the Events that fit your brand’s product lineup to trigger flows.
For example:
“Black Crow - Subscribe Prediction” is only applicable if you have products that offer a subscription option.
“Black Crow - Replenishment Prediction” is only applicable if your products are meant to be repurchased.
How many Events can a customer receive?
A customer can get up to 6 Events per product they order (up to 2 of each of the 3 Event Types).
Each Event a customer receives can result in them entering a flow (if you have a live flow triggered by that Event and if they haven’t entered it in the last 7 days) which results in them receiving up to 2 emails and 2 SMS messages (if you use SMS) by default. If they place any order after entering the flow, they are removed from the flow and receive no further messages for that Event.
Customers rarely receive 2 Events of each of the 3 types for each product ordered.
Here are some reasons why a customer would not receive all 6 Events:
- Replenishment Predictions are only sent if the product is something that customers buy more than once.
- If the customer reorders before our model predicted they would, they won't receive a Replenishment Prediction Event.
- Subscribe Predictions are only sent if the product has a subscription option.
- If the customer has already subscribed to the product, they won’t get a Subscribe Prediction Event.
- No customer will get more than 1 Event on the same day. If multiple Events are predicted on the same day, only the one we predict is most likely to drive a purchase is sent.
By default, no customer will enter the same flow more than once in 7 days. We do this with flow filters on the flow within your email/SMS platform. It's possible for you to change that number 7 to whatever number you prefer but 7 is the recommended default.
The default setup sends 2 emails and 2 SMS messages in the flow sequence for each Event. It’s possible for you to change that to whatever you prefer but 2 and 2 is the recommended default.
If you have more questions or suggestions on the volume and timing of events being sent, please contact support@blackcrow.ai. Suggestions will be shared with our data science and product teams for future consideration.
When are the Events sent?
For each of the 3 Event types, if a customer qualifies for 2 Events (i.e. none of the reasons that withhold Events mentioned in the previous section apply):
- The 1st Event is sent when our AI predicts the customer is most likely to take action based on their purchase history and what similar customers have done.
- The 2nd Event is sent if they haven’t taken action within double the time frame of the 1st Event (e.g. if the 1st Event was sent 30 days after purchase, the 2nd will be sent 60 days after).
